| By:
VICTORIA – The Dinos women's rugby team picked up its first win of the season Friday night in Victoria, knocking off the Vikes 34-10 in the annual Jenny Vincent Memorial Game at Wallace Field.

After controlling the ball for the opening 10 minutes of the first half, the Dinos jumped on a Vikes breakdown in their own defensive zone, with Dino Katie Scotland kicking her first of three field goals on the night. The Dinos then broke in up theright side of the field to score their first try of the game. They would pad their lead in the first half after Sammy Crandell finished a Dino push up the left side of the field, finding the ball in a scrum between teams on the goal line before bringing it in herself.

Vikes Kehla Guimond, Kara Galbraith and Julia Folk were the Vikes largest presence on the field, sparking several pushes towards the Dinos end that the Vikes could not capitalize on.

Calgary opened the second half with two tries in the opening ten minutes and appeared to be running away with it before Vike Alex Mueller carried the ball through the Calgary zone before passing it to Tiffany Picketts who finished it off to put the Vikes on the board with five.

Minutes later, the Vikes would strike again, with Picketts powering up the left side before finding first-year Allie White. White would pass off to teammate Jaiden Parhar before being taken down. Parhar would then finish the play off to give the Vikes 10 points in the game.

Following the Vike tries, Calgary would answer back with another try of their own, pushing their lead to a comfortable 34-10 and the eventual victory over the Vikes in the annual Jenny Vincent Memorial Game.
