CALGARY – The Dinos beat the Regina Cougars 3-1 (25-15, 16-25, 27-25, 25-16) on Feb. 8 at Jack Simpson Gymnasium to capture their seventh win of the season. 

Fourth-year Greg Mann picked up a team-high 13 points on 12 kills and a block. Following him was teammate Ivan Kartev with 12.5 points of his own and middle Sean Tuff also recorded double digits with seven kills, two aces and a block.

For the Cougars, Andrew Nelson scored a game-high 23.5 points, including an outstanding 22 kills from the from the right side. Outside hitter Matthew Lueck recorded another 11 for Regina in the loss. 

The first started off with the Dinos on fire. Tuff went on a big serving run recording a couple aces as Calgary went up 11-3, forcing the Cougars to call a timeout. Their lead held up to the technical at 16-8, and the Dinos sailed to the first set win, 25-15.

The second set was tight up until Regina took at three point lead at 11-8. The Cougars extended their lead to five at the technical timeout. The visitors lead grew from there with nothing going Calgary's way. The Cougars went on to tie the game up at one with a 25-16 win in the second. 

The Dinos had some points to make up in the third as they found themselves with a four point deficit throughout the beginning of the set. They got within two at the technical. Calgary went on roll after the timeout, scoring four points in a row to take back the lead at 18-16. Both teams traded points to get get the go ahead points, but it was ultimately come down to extra points where Mann recorded a huge block for the win at 27-25. 

The Dinos used the momentum from the last set to gain a lead and never look back. Up 16-11 at the technical, Calgary cruised to the the end of the set, grabbing the 25-16 win.  

 
The Dinos (7-14) and the Cougars (3-18) will go at it again tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. in their last games of the season at Jack Simpson Gymnasium.
