Dinos score weekend split with four-set victory over Cougars

BOX SCORE REGINA - The Calgary Dinos were able to salvage a weekend split on Saturday night after scoring a four-set win over the University of Regina in Canada West women's volleyball action at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
Calgary took control of the match with 25-21 and 25-15 wins in the first and second sets. Though the Cougars replied with a 25-18 win in the third, they trailed the entire fourth set and Calgary put the match away with a 25-21 victory.
Janna Ogle led Calgary (4-2) in kills for the second consecutive night, ending up with 13 kills and a team-high .321 hitting percentage. Ali Woolley added nine kills for the Dinos, while Maura Hayes and Emma Pedersen both chipped in with eight. Hayes also had 17 digs for the visitors.
Desiree Ates had a great game on the outside for the Cougars, collecting a match-high 18 kills and being charged with just four errors on 40 attacks to end up with a .350 hitting percentage. Michelle Sweeting had 13 kills for the U of R, while Megan Semeniuk led all players with 20 digs and rookie setter Leah Shevkenek had 46 assists.
Now in a three-way tie for third place in the Canada West standings with Manitoba and UBC Okanagan, Calgary will now prepare for a weekend series against the No. 2-ranked team in the CIS as the Dinos will host Trinity Western next Friday and Saturday.
The Cougars (1-5) have their first of two consecutive road weekends upcoming, as the U of R will travel to Calgary for a pair of matches against Mount Royal.
