BOX SCORE CALGARY – The Mount Royal Cougars stormed back from a two sets to none deficit to defeat the Calgary Dinos 3-2 (21-25, 11-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-12) in the Canada West opener for both teams at MRU's Kenyon Court.
Carolyn O'Dwyer (13) and Julia Pasieka (12) had the most kills for the Cougars, while Ali Wooley (17) and
Janna Ogle (11) led the way for the Dinos.
The Dinos opened the match on a solid run that set them up well in the inaugural set, which they took 25-21. The second was even better for Calgary, as they poured it on en route to a dominant 25-11 win.
That's when the tables turned. The Cougars came out flying to open the third, taking a 25-16 lead to get within one. Chipping away, Mount Royal took a 25-21 win in the fourth, setting up the fifth and deciding set. And there, the home side completed its comeback with a 15-12 victory.
The two teams square off once more Saturday night, with first serve at 5 p.m. on the Dinos' home court in the Jack Simpson Gym.
