BOX SCORE

KELOWNA, B.C. - Coming off a tough weekend against the No. 1 Bears, the Dinos were looking to post some wins this weekend. What ensued was a five-set grind-it-out type game of tough defense and timely kills that resulted in a 3-2 victory for the visiting Dinos (25-19, 19-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-9).

Dino defence would be the saving grace for the team from Calgary on this night. The Dinos out-dug the Heat by 8 (66-58), while holding the Heat to a kill percentage of .045 in the fifth and deciding set.

The Dino offense was led by Sean Martin, who tallied 17 kills on 36 attempts for U of C. Will Young added 8 kills and 17 kills to help vault the Dinos ahead of the Heat.

For the Heat, Riley McFarland continues to dominate Canada West competition in 2013.  The fourth-year outside hitter from Surrey, BC provided the majority of the offense once again on this night, connecting on 24 kills over 55 attempts, as the Heat continue to rely on his offensive services. He also added two service aces on the night, with one ending the second set with emphasis. As a team, the Heat hit .214 - .07 better than their opponents.

With the win, the Dinos move to 3-12, while UBC Okanagan falls to 2-13.

Both teams will get another shot at each other tomorrow night, finishing the weekend series off at 7 p.m. at UBC Okanagan Gymnasium.
