CALGARY - The No. 2 Alberta Pandas got revenge on the hosting Calgary Dinos on Saturday night in Jack Simpson Gymnasium, taking down the home team 3-1 (17-25, 14-25, 30-28, 13-25).

Coming off a big upset just last night, the Dinos were unable to repeat the outcome the following game against the No. 2 ranked team in the country in women's volleyball. Alberta's offence was on fire right off the bat with a number of players contributing and with the Dinos having trouble passing up some tough serves from the Pandas, the home team found themselves down 16-10 at the technical timeout.

Panda Krista Zubick was unstoppable from the left side in the first set, making it difficult on the Dinos defence. Despite five kills coming from Lindsey Doland in the first, the Dinos would give up the first set 25-17 to the visitors.

Calgary found themselves in tough again in the second with some unforced errors hurting them early on. Courtney Dawson would do her best keeping the Dinos in it from the middle, but Calgary had a six-point deficit at the timeout.

Alberta's big block up front proved to trouble Calgary all set long and some tough serves would frustrate the home team. From the middle, Panda Dione Lang would make the difference at the net and help solidify the two-set lead for Alberta in the second with an easy 25-14 win.

Calgary wouldn't give up that easily though. The Dinos started off the third set on the right foot, capitalizing on Alberta mistakes and turning up the offence. Third-year Lindsay Russell would make her presence known on the court Dawson continued to impress from the middle. They headed into the technical timeout up 16-11.

The Pandas slowly made their way back into the game, utilizing their middles as well, but the Dinos maintained a three-point lead up until 21-18. At that point, the Pandas would string together four points of their own to take their first lead of the set.

Both teams continued to trade points from that point on until a hit out the back from Alberta would give Calgary the set point. With Dawson on the serving line, she found the far sideline and Alberta libero Jessie Niles let it drop, giving the Dinos the third set win with a score of 30-28.

Dawson came out in the fourth with two big kills, but Alberta's offence took over as they led by six point at 11-5, forcing head coach Natalie Schwartz to call a timeout. The Pandas got two more points before the Dinos could get a side out.

Unfortunately for the home team, it didn't get much better from there as they headed into the technical break down 16-7. Rookie Kacey Otto was a force at the net for Alberta in the fourth from the left side and some solid defence from the visitors allowed them to pull away and win the match with a 25-13 win in the fourth.

Doland led the Dinos with 17 kills and seven digs, followed by teammate Dawson who added another 10. Alberta's Zubick had a game-high 19 kills and 17 digs in the match.

The Dinos take on the UBC Okanagan Heat next weekend on January 18 and 19.
