KAMLOOPS, B.C. – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack emerged victorious on the other side of a back-and-forth match with the Calgary Dinos Saturday night, earning a 3-2 win (25-20, 22-25, 25-14, 13-25, 15-11) at the Tournament Capital Centre.

The result leaves both teams with records of 1-1 following Calgary's 3-1 triumph in the season-opener Friday.
“Credit to TRU, they played incredible defence against us, and we were fighting to put the ball away all night,” said Dinos head coach Natalie Schwartz. “We struggled with consistency all night. In the third set we were playing as a group of individuals, but in the fourth we really came together as a cohesive unit and the score reflected that.”
The first set caw Calgary roll out to a quick 8-4 lead before the WolfPack scored five in a row to take a 9-8 lead. The set see sawed the rest of the way.
In the second, TRU was up 5-4 before the Dinos went on a 5-0 run to go up 9-5. Later, with the game tied at 18, the Dinos again went on to notch four straight points to go up 22-18 before TRU came back to make it close.
The third set saw TRU score five unanswered points, including two on service aces by setter Kara Twomey to notch the victory.
Calgary owned the fourth set, winning handily. The fifth set saw the Dinos score first before the 'Pack notched three in a row to go up 3-1. After the Dinos tied it up, TRU scored three in a row to regain the lead and scored seven of the next nine points to move to a 10-5 advantage en route to the victory.
Kelly had 11 kills in 32 chances to lead the WolfPack. Twomey had 37 assists while Sara Pettersson had 18 digs. Amanda Frayne had seven kills in 33 chances and 14 digs.
Caglary was led by Lindsay Doland with 15 kills in 36 chances with two service aces and eight digs.
Melanie Miazga had 14 kills in 22 chances, while
Sarah Moncks had 10 kills in 31 chances with 18 digs.
Brooke Halvorsen had 21 digs, and
Sarah Lacny recorded 30 assists.
TRU heads on the road to visit the University of Alberta next weekend, while the Dinos have their home opening weekend Nov. 4-5 against the Manitoba Bisons in the Jack Simpson Gym.
