| By:
CALGARY – On the strength of another solid outing from tournament MVP Jay Olmstead, the University of Alberta Golden Bears captured their first-ever Husky Dino Cup title with a convincing 3-0 win over the host Calgary Dinos Saturday night in the Jack Simpson Gym (25-20, 25-21, 25-16).

Olmstead hit better than 50 per cent on the night, pounding 12 kills as the Bears steamrolled the Dinos, avenging their round-robin loss earlier in the tournament.

Earlier in the bronze medal match, BYU had little trouble with the Saskatchewan Huskies, dispatching them for the second time in about five hours in straight sets.

The Dinos women also avenged a loss, upending the Alberta Pandas 3-0 to split their weekend non-conference series.

The Calgary volleyball teams take next weekend off before hosting the Winnipeg Wesmen Nov. 5-6 to open Canada West play for 2010-11. Friday, Nov. 5 the Dinos men will raise their 2010 CIS national championship banner to the rafters of the Jack Simpson Gym prior to the match.
