KAMLOOPS, B.C. – The No. 2-ranked University of Calgary Dinos improved to 4-1 on the 2009-10 season with a 3-0 blanking (25-22, 25-23, 26-24) of the Thompson Rivers WolfPack Friday night at the Tournament Capital Centre.
BOX SCORE
“We were very pleased to come in here and get a 3-0 win,” said Dinos head coach
Rod Durrant. “I thought there were a lot of unforced errors and missed serves by both teams, but we were fortunate enough to come out on top.”
Thompson Rivers falls to 2-3 on the season.
The Dinos were led by
Curtis James with 11 kills in 27 chances.
Omar Langford chipped in with 10 kills on 24 opportunities, while setter
Ciaran McGovern had 27 assists.
TRU's Gord Perrin led all hitters with 22 kills in 44 attempts. Kevin Tillie had 7 kills in 18 tries. Rookie setter Colin Carson had 37 assists, while Kyle Donen had 11 digs to be named the TRU Bookstore “Leader of the Pack” player of the match.
WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly was disappointed that a late rally in the second set fell short.
“Stephen Richter came out in that set and served four balls in a row that gave us a rally,” he said. “But we were always down by three or four. \We talked about that before that against a good team, it is pretty tough to come back from that deficit.”
The same two teams go at it again Saturday night at the Tournament Capital Centre beginning at 7:45 p.m. MT.
