Dinos Women's Rugby

First-ever home game goes Friday afternoon

| By:
CALGARY - The first ever CIS women's rugby fixture to be held on Calgary soil will kick off this weekend as the University of Calgary Dinos play host to the University of Alberta Pandas.

As far as the standings are concerned a shot at the playoffs is a long one for the Dinos, as they sit winless at 0-3 at the bottom of Canada West. In order to gain a spot in the top-four Canada West Championship, the Dinos would need to score at least four tries this week while beating the Pandas and hoping that the University of Victoria Vikes don't not pick up any points in their game against the UBC Thunderbirds.

The Pandas, on the other hand, are in a comfortable position going into this week's game after posting a 2-0 record so far this season. This winning streak has given them the second spot in Canada West as well as a guaranteed place in the playoffs.

Statistically, Alberta holds the advantage in this matchup after the Dinos have failed to post any points so far this season. To contrast, the Pandas have yet to allow any points to be scored against them while they put up 46 points in their first two matches.

The regular season wrap-up for these two teams will begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the University of Calgary pitch.
