University of Calgary Dinos striker Tessa Miller finally broke out of her scoring slump last weekend against Lethbridge – and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

Miller scored two of the Dinos’ four goals on the weekend and assisted on the other two as Calgary swept Lethbridge 1-0 and 3-0 in their annual home-and-home series.

Saturday’s win in Lethbridge came in dramatic fashion when Miller’s cross found the foot of Sarah Benson and the back of the net in the 90th minute of play, seconds before the final whistle blew to give the Dinos a badly-needed two extra points in the standings.

The near-miss behind them, Calgary dominated play on Sunday and Miller scored the first two Calgary goals less than a minute apart late in the first half. The first was a one-touch gem to the top corner, while she would step around a defender for a wide open look on her second marker of the day.

She put the icing on the cake with her fourth point of the weekend with a long cross feed to Deanna Fidler, who gave Calgary a 3-0 advantage midway through the second half.

The Dinos (3-4-1) enjoy the bye this weekend before heading east to face Regina and Manitoba Oct. 16-17.
