Fourth-year sprinter Amonn Nelson came away with quite the medal haul from the Canada West Track and Field Championships over the weekend.

In addition to leading the Calgary Dinos to a pair of relay gold medals in the 4x200 and 4x400, Nelson added individual gold in the 60 and 300-metre dashes.

After posting a preliminary time of 7.79, Nelson shaved two tenths off that in the final to cross the line in 7.59 seconds, just one hundredth ahead of silver medallist Amanda Ruller of Regina. Her margin in the 300 was far greater, as her time of 38.36 was more than a second ahead of the second place finisher.

Her 300-metre gold was enough to earn her the female Outstanding Performance award, while she also took home the Outstanding Performer (track) award from the championships.

Nelson and the Dinos advance to the CIS track and field championships March 12-14 in Windsor, Ont.
