Sam Effah was up to his old tricks at the Canada West Track and Field Championships over the weekend in Edmonton.

The fourth-year sprinter from Calgary, who is the two-time defending CIS track athlete of the year, added two more gold medals at the conference meet in the 60 and 300-metre events. His 60-metre time of 6.67 was nearly two tenths better than the silver medallist, while he won the 300 by more than a full second and came within just four hundredths of the conference record which has stood since 1984.

For his efforts, Effah was awarded the Outstanding Performer (track) award by the conference coaches, while his 300-metre time earned the Outstanding Performance honour.

Effah will look to defend his CIS gold at the national championships in Windsor March 12-14.
