Fifth-year netminder Katie Urness shone over the weekend for the Calgary Dinos, allowing just one goal against in their two-game series against the UBC Thunderbirds.
In Friday’s opener, a 1-0 shootout loss, Urness stopped all 21 shots to come her way through regulation and overtime. A night later, she stopped 24 of 25 UBC shots to backstop the Dinos to a 2-1 victory, earning three of a possible four points on the weekend.
Her goals-against average on the weekend was a miniscule 0.48, with her save percentage a sparkling .978.
Urness and the Dinos wrap up their inaugural CIS season with a home-and-home series this weekend against the Lethbridge Pronghorns.
