The Calgary Dinos women’s hockey team needed a spark to snap a 13-game losing skid, and the return of forward Sinead Tracey was just what the doctor ordered.
St. Albert, Alta’s Tracey, who has missed half of the season with injury, had three points including two key goals on the weekend as the Dinos swept the Regina Cougars at home with 3-2 shootout and 3-0 shutout victories. In Friday’s opener, the second-year science student set up the Dinos’ first goal, then scored the tying goal in the third period to send the game to extra time. In the shootout Tracey was at it again, scoring the game winner to give the Dinos their first victory since the opening game of the season.
Saturday afternoon, Tracey was a force all over the ice and scored the Dinos’ insurance marker late in the second period to help Calgary grab its third win of the year.
Tracey and the Dinos face a stiff challenge as they head to Winnipeg to face the Manitoba Bisons this weekend.
