Freshman Newfoundlander Maura Hayes continued her stellar play this weekend, leading the ninth-ranked Calgary Dinos back to the .500 mark with a two-match sweep of the Saskatchewan Huskies.

Playing just two sets in the Friday opener, Hayes put down six kills against just one error for a 31.2 per cent efficiency. But Saturday she was even better, putting up 14 kills and hitting at nearly 36 per cent. She also added seven digs on Saturday in Calgary’s 3-1 win.

The rookie has 110 kills on the season, the second-best average on the team, and a team-leading 14 service aces on the season.

The Dinos take a week off before taking on the two-time defending national champion UBC Thunderbirds Jan. 22-23 in Vancouver.
