Playing the final games of her CIS career, fifth-year captain Andrea Hayes spearheaded a stifling Calgary defence this weekend as the Dinos returned from their prairie road trip with two wins and six points.
The Dinos gave up just one goal on the weekend, getting past Manitoba 2-1 before shutting out Regina 2-0. Saturday in Winnipeg, Calgary successfully staved off a Manitoba attack that sent six shots onto the Dinos goal as they escaped with the victory. A day later in the Saskatchewan capital, the Dinos clamped down defensively as the Cougars managed to get off just four shots, only one of which forced netminder Kristen Barton to make a save.
Hayes and the Dinos finish the season at 7-7, just two points out of a playoff spot in the ultra-competitive Canada West.
