Anthony Parker staked his claim as the top receiver in Canada West early in the 2009 season with an impressive 177-yard performance against the Alberta Golden Bears in No. 5 Calgary’s 34-31 win at McMahon Stadium Saturday.

The third-year slotback averaged better than 25 yards per catch in his seven-reception performance, but none stood out more than his touchdown grab at the 3:51 mark of the fourth quarter. Parker grabbed a pass from quarterback Erik Glavic on the Calgary side of the midfield stripe, eluded three would-be Alberta tacklers, then outran a fourth for a 77-yard major score – the longest offensive play of the young Canada West season.

Parker leads the conference after two games, averaging 145 yards per game and a very impressive 19.6 yards per catch.

Parker and the Dinos (1-1) head east to face the similarly 1-1 Regina Rams Friday night at Mosaic Stadium.
