As the No. 5 Calgary Dinos continued to play without star forward Henry Bekkering for the second straight weekend, sophomore guard Tyler Fidler picked up the slack in the Dinos’ two-game sweep of the Saskatchewan Huskies.

In Friday’s opener, a 76-50 whitewash of the Dogs, Fidler had a solid 13-point effort and led the Dinos with nine rebounds. But it was Saturday night where he shone brightest. With a revved-up Huskies offence coming at them, the Dinos were forced to reply on occasion after occasion – and time after time Fidler did the talking. Shooting 9 of 14, including 7 of 10 in the second half, the reigning Canada West rookie of the year hit four clutch three-point hoops – two of which put the Dinos back on top after the Huskies had taken a lead – to finish the night with 27 points in a six-point, 77-71 Dinos victory.

The night moved the 6-foot-9 guard into the top 20 in Canada West scoring, and he moved up to fourth spot in three-point field goal percentage.

A Calgary native out of Western Canada High School, Fidler is studying in the Faculty of Communication and Culture.
