Third-year quarterback Eric Dzwilewski directed the Calgary offence with the most efficient game in University of Calgary history as the No. 3-ranked Dinos wrapped up a 7-1 season with a wild 78-54 win over Manitoba Saturday night at McMahon Stadium.
Playing just the first half, Dzwilewski completed his first 18 consecutive passes and finished 25-for-27 on the night, a school-record 92.6 per cent completion rate. He threw for 318 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Dinos built up a massive 63-14 lead in the opening half, scoring 42 points in the second quarter alone.
The game wrapped up a career season for Dzwilewski. He finished with a Canada West-record 70.6 completion percentage on the year, throwing for 2,290 yards – the third-best season in Dinos history – and 15 touchdowns. The offence he leads set nine team single-season records, including points scored (380), touchdowns (42), first downs (272), passing yards (2,997), completions (213), completion percentage (71.7), converts (42), field goals (22), and total offence (4,720).
Dzwilewski and the Dinos are right back at it against the Bisons Saturday when they host Manitoba in a Canada West semi-final game, live on Shaw TV, from McMahon Stadium. Kickoff goes at 5 p.m.
