Calgary native Amanda Tapp gave up just three goals in three games and was named CIS championship MVP as the University of Calgary Dinos captured their first-ever CIS women’s hockey title last weekend at Clare Drake Arena in Edmonton.

After out-duelling legendary netminder Charline Labonté in Calgary’s 1-0 shutout of defending champion McGill Thursday night, Tapp was solid in a 4-2 win over Alberta to close pool play. In Sunday’s final against sixth-seeded Montreal, she made 27 saves – including a couple of the spectacular variety – as the Dinos cruised to a 5-1 win and raised the Golden Path trophy in just their third year back in CIS following a seven-year hiatus.

Through a magical playoff run for the Dinos, Tapp was sensational, allowing just five goals in seven games and going nearly 180 minutes without surrendering a goal. She finished the CIS tournament with a 1.00 goals-against average, a .953 save percentage, and a shutout to earn all-star and MVP honours at the event.
