The reigning Canada West defensive player of the year is up to his old tricks again.

Calgary Dinos linebacker Sam Hurl had another solid outing Friday night, racking up 9.5 tackles as the fourth-ranked Dinos got past No. 10 UBC 30-25 at McMahon Stadium.

Eight of Hurl’s tackles were solos and most came on the run as the Calgary defence did a solid job of limiting UBC to just 158 yards on the ground – compared to 351 rushing yards for the Dinos offence. Two weeks into the 2011 season, Hurl sits second in the conference with 17 tackles.

Hurl and the Dinos (2-0) head to Regina to take on the Rams (0-2) Friday night at Mosaic Stadium, live on CanadaWest.tv and QR77 radio.
