Fifth-year kicker Aaron Ifield moved one step closer to the top of the national leaderboard Friday night at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.
Ifield was perfect on his four field goal attempts from 14, 39, 27, and 23 yards, bringing his career total to 69 and setting a new Canada West all-time record. Sitting with an impressive 16-for-18 stat line with one game remaining in 2010, Ifield needs just one field goal in the Dinos’ last game Saturday against Alberta at McMahon Stadium to tie the CIS all-time record of 70, held by Western Ontario’s Frank Jagas. A second field goal against the Bears would give him the national record outright.
To boot, Ifield had his best punting game of the season against the rams, averaging 47.5 yards on his four punts as the Dinos got a big road win 35-27.
Ifield was also named CIS Special Teams player of the week for his efforts.
