Tessa Miller’s all-star season continued last weekend as the Calgary Dinos kept their playoff hopes alive with a win and a draw on their prairie road trip.
Miller, who now sits tied for second in Canada West scoring, factored in all three Calgary goals on the weekend. Saturday afternoon in Regina, Miller was awarded a penalty kick in the 12th minute and made no mistake on the opportunity, giving the Dinos all the offence they’d need in a 1-0 victory that avenged an earlier home loss to the Cougars.
The roadshow headed to Winnipeg Sunday, with the Dinos emerging with a 2-2 tie against the Manitoba Bisons. Miller again opened the scoring, this time in the 28th minute on a feed from Brittany Benson, then assisted on Morena Ianniello’s go-ahead goal to make it 2-1 for the Dinos before Manitoba tied it up.
Calgary sits three points back of the Saskatchewan Huskies for the fourth and final playoff spot in Canada West, setting up a huge weekend as the Dinos wrap up their home schedule. The Huskies pay a visit Saturday afternoon, followed by a Sunday tilt with the first-place, undefeated Alberta Pandas.
