Christine Biggs began her tenure as the ninth head coach in Dinos women's volleyball history in January 2021.
She joined the Dinos in 2021 from the University of New Brunswick, where she led the Reds women’s volleyball program to a turnaround, posting a 24-15 record in two seasons after the program had posted just seven wins in the previous three seasons combined. In her short tenure at UNB, she earned the 2017-18 Atlantic University Sport coach of the year after leading the Reds from an 0-20 mark in to a 12-7 record and an appearance in the AUS final just a year later.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Biggs played for MacEwan University, Red Deer College, and the University of Alberta, winning a national title with the Pandas in 2007 in the Jack Simplson Gym. Coach Biggs earned both Education and Physical Education degrees, and taught in the Edmonton Public School Board for 8 years before returning to UofA to complete a Master of Coaching in 2019. Biggs was an assistant coach with the Pandas from 2015-18 during U SPORT season, while also coaching indoor and beach volleyball in the club system and for Team Alberta at the Canada Summer Games, Canada Cups, and various NTCC tournaments.
In 2015 Coach Biggs was named an assistant coach for Team Canada Women’s Sitting Volleyball, where she went on to represent Canada at two Paralympic Games (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020), and the Parapan American Games (Lima 2019). She remains active with the National Sitting Team program in a part-time capacity.
In the indoor women’s game, Coach Biggs was selected as Head Coach for Team Canada’s U19 National team programming. In the summer of 2022, she lead-coached a training and selection camp, before competing at the U19 Pan American Cup (Tulsa 2022), and went on to represent Canada at the U19 World Championships the following summer (Hungary, Croatia 2023).
