A born-and-raised Calgarian, Watson joined the Dinos coaching staff in the summer of 2021, working with throwing events.
Watson received scholarships at the College of Southern Idaho and Southern Utah University, where he won numerous conference championships and All-American honors. He finished his time with the Thunderbirds with school records in weight throw (19.76m) and hammer throw (57.78m) and still ranks in the top ten in program history in both events, as well as discus (54.96m) and outdoor shot put (16.57m).
He went on to compete in the Canada Games, the Western Canada Games and the Junior Pan-American Games.
Watson began his coaching career in 2013 at the high school level and has seen nothing but success, guiding numerous individuals to city and provincial championships.
