The Dinos return to McMahon Stadium after rallying from an 18-point second-quarter deficit before falling 38-36 in double overtime to the Manitoba Bisons last Saturday in Winnipeg, a result that leaves Calgary 1-2 in Canada West play. David Jordan went 18-of-32 for 267 yards and two touchdowns, Matt Sibley had eight catches for 137 yards, and Matthieu Clarke ran for 112 yards and caught a touchdown in the second overtime. De'Von Young's 49-yard interception return late in the fourth quarter set up the tying score. Calgary opened the season with a 32-7 win over the UBC Thunderbirds at McMahon Stadium, then fell 44-24 at Saskatchewan. Friday's game is the Western Showdown, and fans are encouraged to wear their best western attire, with a special halftime performance from UCalgary alumna Seraphina.

The Alberta Golden Bears enter 0-3 in conference play. The Saskatchewan Huskies beat them 65-12 last Friday at Foote Field.

Calgary swept both meetings last season, winning 23-19 in Edmonton and 34-29 at McMahon Stadium. The Dinos have won 10 of the last 12 meetings, including the last four. The two teams meet again Oct. 31 in Edmonton.

Player to Watch: Matthieu Clarke – The running back ran for 112 yards at Manitoba and caught Jordan's touchdown pass in the second overtime. He has become one of Calgary's top offensive weapons after an injury shortened his 2025 season.

The Dinos have won three straight and sit 5-2-0 in Canada West play after a home sweep last weekend. Luis Rangel-Kataev scored twice in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Saskatchewan Huskies, then opened the scoring again Sunday in a 2-0 win over the Alberta Golden Bears. His Sunday goal came in the 11th minute off a pass from Efe Udolu-Joshua, and the weekend brought back-to-back clean sheets. Sunday's win came against the same Alberta side that won the teams' Sept. 5 meeting in Edmonton.

The UBC Okanagan Heat are 0-6-0 in conference play after road losses last weekend of 4-1 to No. 2 UBC and 5-1 to the Fraser Valley Cascades. The Trinity Western Spartans (3-4-1) opened their season with a win over UBC Okanagan and play at Alberta on Saturday before visiting Calgary. Their most recent result was a 1-0 win over the UNBC Timberwolves. Xander Roxburgh scored the goal, and goalkeeper Jakob Frank saved a penalty in the final seconds.

Player to Watch: Luis Rangel-Kataev – The first-year forward scored three goals in last weekend's two wins, bringing his season total to four. He was named this week's Canada West BioSteel Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week.

The Dinos host the Alberta Pandas after a 41-0 loss to the defending national champion UBC Thunderbirds on Sept. 19 in Vancouver, leaving them 0-3-0 in Canada West play. Calgary opened the season with a 21-12 loss to the Lethbridge Pronghorns after leading 5-0 at halftime, then fell 29-21 in Edmonton after again holding the lead at the break. Five different Dinos scored tries across those first two games: Bomi Lawal, Gracie Freund, Kayla Maclean, Kiera Andasol Dubyk and Kenzie McEachern-Shields.

The Pandas are 1-1-0 after losing 36-22 to Lethbridge last time out. Alberta closed last season by beating Lethbridge 15-12 for the Canada West bronze medal.

Alberta has won the last seven meetings, including the 29-21 result earlier this month.

Player to Watch: Bomi Lawal – The fourth-year winger scored a try against Alberta earlier this season. She also scored in the season opener against Lethbridge.

No. 4 Calgary visits the No. 8 Mount Royal Cougars for the season's first Crowchild Classic soccer meeting. The Dinos are 6-0-0 in Canada West play after two road wins in Saskatchewan last weekend. Sofia DiGiacomo scored in the second half to beat the Saskatchewan Huskies 1-0 on Saturday, and goalkeeper Cheridan Johnson made the only save of the first half. DiGiacomo scored again Sunday to open a 5-0 win over the Regina Cougars. Mykena Walker, Elania Tetteh-Wayoe and Ella Djuranic, with two goals, added second-half goals. Calgary has outscored opponents 17-2 through six games.

Mount Royal is also 6-0-0. The Cougars won 1-0 at Regina and 2-1 at Saskatchewan last weekend and have allowed four goals this season. Brooke Miller, Gabrielle Linford and Analisa Galvez have each scored twice in conference play, and Galvez scored in the win at Saskatchewan.

Calgary leads the all-time series with 14 wins, two losses and six draws in 22 meetings. The Dinos also beat Mount Royal 3-0 in the 2025 Canada West bronze medal match. The two teams meet again Oct. 9 in Calgary.

Player to Watch: Sofia DiGiacomo – DiGiacomo scored in both games last weekend, including a long-range opener against Regina, and has four goals this season. She also had a goal and an assist in the 2-0 win over MacEwan.
