CALGARY – Canadian Football Hall of Fame quarterback Henry Burris is coming back to Calgary but not with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

The 51-year-old Burris will be a 2026 training camp coach with the University of Calgary Dinos, primarily working with the quarterbacks and offensive coach Pat Sheahan, who returns to that position after serving as offensive line coach the past two seasons.

Henry will arrive in Calgary on August 14 and will be at Dinos practices from August 15 through 20.

When Henry arrives in Calgary, he will be reunited with Dinos quarterback David Jordan, whom he coached for two years at Florida A&M and was instrumental in bringing to the Dinos last year.

Burris needs little introduction to football fans in Calgary and Canada. Henry had an incredible 18-year CFL career with the Stampeders, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ottawa REDBLACKS. He also played in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.

Henry's career highlights are numerous. Among his many accolades, he is a three-time Grey Cup champion, two-time Grey Cup Most Valuable Player, two-time CFL Most Valuable Player, and was twice named the league's top quarterback.

He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in June 2020 in Hamilton, ON, in the same class as former Dinos quarterback Greg Vavra. He was also inducted into the Temple University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.

Burris began his coaching career with the Chicago Bears in 2020, spending two seasons with them before joining the BC Lions of the CFL as an offensive assistant in 2022. Over the following two seasons, he was with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL. In the past two seasons, he served as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Florida A&M University Rattlers of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
