CALGARY – University of Calgary Dinos women's rugby player
Bomi Lawal is set to compete at the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games.
The second-year wing is one of 12 athletes named by Rugby Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee to the U20 women's rugby sevens team.
A Calgary native, Lawal was a standout on the 2025 Canada West Rugby 7s circuit. She led the Dinos in scoring across three tournaments and ranked ninth in the conference with nine tries. Her five-try performance at the Alberta Tournament in January earned her a spot on the Canada West Rugby 7s Tournament Dream Team.
The second edition of the Junior Pan American Games will take place Aug. 9–23 at Paraguay's Olympic Park, with more than 4,000 athletes from 41 countries competing in 28 sports. Rugby sevens is scheduled for Aug. 16 and 17.
The Dinos kick off their Canada West 15s season on Aug. 30, hosting the Alberta Pandas at McMahon Stadium.
