CALGARY – A pair of graduates of the University of Calgary Dinos football program will be a part of the 112th Grey Cup this weekend in Winnipeg when the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Montreal Alouettes meet on Sunday at 4 p.m. MT.

Receiver
Tyson Philpot and defensive back
Nate Beauchemin are on the active roster for the Eastern Champion Alouettes. Their opponent, the Roughriders, have a former member of the Dinos on their roster in centre
Sean McEwen, but he has been sidelined since training camp being on the injured list.
For the 25-year-old Philpot, playing in championship games in nothing new. He was a key performer in the Dinos 2019 Vanier Cup win over the University of Montreal Carabins. Tyson also caught the game winning touchdown pass in the Alouettes' 28-24 Grey Cup win two years ago against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on the game's final play.
This season, Philpot caught 61 passes for 804 yards in 12 league contests scoring five touchdowns.
Philpot joined the Dinos in 2018 and was winner of the Peter Gorman Trophy as Rookie of the Year in U SPORTS football and a First Team All-Canadian in 2021.
For Beauchemin, he will be going to the Grey Cup in his first year as a professional. The 21-year-old native of Kelowna, BC., was selected 14th overall by the Alouettes in the 2025 CFL draft.
Beauchemin missed eight regular season games with an upper body injury, but has dressed for both playoff games. During the regular season, he recorded nine tackles – eight of them on special teams.
Last year, Beauchemin capped an outstanding college career by winning the President's Trophy as U SPORTS Defensive Player of the Year, while also earning First Team All-Canadian honours.
McEwen was a five-year starter on the Dinos (2011-15). He had an incredible career with the Dinos, being named a First Team All-Canadian twice and a Second Team All-Canadian an additional season. He started his outstanding professional career with the Toronto Argonauts and the Calgary Stampeders before signing as a free agent with the Riders in February 2025.
