VANCOUVER – The Canada West announced its 2021 football all-stars Wednesday.
The Huskies, who enter the Hardy Cup playoffs as the conference's top seed with a 5-1 record, had 10 student-athletes selected as all-stars by the Canada West football coaches. The Manitoba Bisons had the second most all-stars, with six selections, and were followed closely by the Alberta Golden Bears with five.
Calgary Dinos receiver Tyson Philpot was the only unanimous selection on the offensive side of the ball. The third-year Dino posted a conference best nine touchdowns in 2021 and was one of four Calgary players named all-stars on Wednesday. He is joined on the all-star selections by his brother Jalen Philpot and teammates Logan Bandy and Jacob Biggs.
The UBC Thunderbirds and Regina Rams also had a pair of student-athletes selected as all-stars, with the Thunderbirds boasting a pair of offensive stars, while Regina's all-stars were selected on the defensive side of the ball.
The conference's major award winners are set to be unveiled next week, ahead of the 84th Hardy Cup.
