CALGARY – University of Calgary students have a chance to win free tuition this weekend – all while supporting their Dinos and helping promote healthy, active living as part of Sports Day in Canada.

Sports Day in Canada is a national celebration of sport, from grassroots to high performance levels. Held this year on Saturday, Sept. 29, Sports Day in Canada demonstrates that sport has the power to build community, fortify national spirit, and promote healthy, active living.

The Dinos join more than 1,000 other local events happening across the country, including a special television broadcast on CBC Sports. Sports Day in Canada is presented by CBC Sports, ParticipACTION and True Sport, working with national sporting organizations and their networks of coaches, athletes and enthusiasts across the country.

The weekend begins with National Jersey Day on Friday, and the Dinos encourage all University of Calgary staff, faculty, and students to wear their favourite team's jersey. The Dinos street team will be handing out swag across campus to anyone they find getting into the spirit and sporting their team's colours.

Then, at 7 p.m., the Dinos men's hockey team kicks off its 2012-13 season at Father David Bauer Arena when they face off against the Lethbridge Pronghorns. Calgary Flames defenceman Jay Bouwmeester will be on hand for the game and will sign autographs during the first intermission.

On Saturday, the scene shifts to McMahon Stadium for a massive yoga experience followed by a CIS Top 10 match-up on the field between the No. 2 Dinos and the No. 10 Saskatchewan Huskies. The action begins at 2 p.m. when busses will depart from the university residences near the Dining Centre, headed to the stadium. At 2:30 p.m., the Dinos football team's very own yoga instructor will lead hundreds of students onto the turf for a massive yoga session, followed by a tailgate party on the concourse before the game. The first 300 yoga participants will receive a free hamburger and beverage at the tailgate.

Then, at 5 p.m., the Dinos look to improve to 5-0 on the season as they take on the Saskatchewan Huskies. During the game, all participating students will be entered into a draw for one of four prizes of $500 toward their tuition!
