Dixon's career at the University of Calgary was illustrious, winning 10 CIS gold medals and 15 Canada West gold medals while setting five CIS records from 1980-85. In just her second year with the Dinos, Dixon was named the CIS Swimmer of the Year as well as Alberta Swimmer of the Year in 1982 and was a finalist in all four events at the 1981 Universiade in Romania as a member of Team Canada. Dixon was also a member of the Canadian national team from 1980-83 and captained the Dinos from 1981-84.
