CALGARY – University of Calgary athletic director Kevin Boyles announced Wednesday that Dinos men's soccer coach Andy Gibbs has resigned from his position, effective immediately.
The longest-serving coach on campus, Gibbs has patrolled the Dinos sidelines since 1987. He will undergo knee surgery in the off-season, which will require a minimum six-month rehabilitation period.
“Dinos Athletics thanks Coach Gibbs for his 22 seasons of dedication and commitment to the Dinos and the sport of soccer in the city of Calgary,” said Boyles. “Andy's passion for soccer and the Dinos program was clearly evident over the years. He has been a strong advocate of the 'student-athlete' and has had a positive impact on many lives.
“We wish him the best as he moves forward to pursue other interests following his recovery.”
